Canderside Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs

The Canderside Rough Collie kennel was first established in 1969. Little was heard from the Candersides between 1979 and 1985 due to a change in domestic circumstances and Aileen Gemmell's increased involvement with Shetland Sheepdogs. Since this time Canderside has become better known for its association with shetland sheepdogs although the rough collie has always remained a firm favourite. Since moving into North Barbeth Farm near Ayr last year, the Canderside dogs have settled well into their new surroundings and are looking forward to challenging visitors to a race around the paddock.
All Collie and Sheltie lovers are always welcome and Scottish Shetland Sheepdog Rescue supporters - both old and new - are especially encouraged to come to visit.

Here are a few of our favourite sites:

  • A link to the Scottish Collie web site. Aileen is currently acting Secretary for the Scottish Collie Club.
  • this links to the official Ayrshire Collie Club web site which is full of information about the club, its activities and contained lots of photos of show winners and members' dogs. Well worth a visit.
  • this link will take visitors to the English Shetland Sheepdog Club home page. This is very informative site for anyone interested in the shetland sheepdog and contains information on ESSC branches, their activities and also displays the illustrated KC breed standard for the sheltie. You can also purchase ESSC Club products from this site. Contains a number of useful links to other sheltie related sites, including breeder sites.
  • .and finally a link to the Champdogs area - direct to the page containing further information and photographs of the Canderside Kennel. From here the visitor can browse a wide range of dog related web pages, including breeders of all KC registered breeds, boarding kennels and rescue organisations, products, doggy news and chat rooms, etc. Well worth a visit for anyone interested in dog related stories and activities.

Here are some direct links to some other Collie and Sheltie breeder sites:

  • A link to the Kamarlee Sheltie web site. Contains a wide range of photographs of dogs and show activities. Good to visit.
  • Visit the Aintshe rough collies. Owned and breed by Lyn Maxwell (previously known as Robinson) you will find details of some of the top winning Aintshe collies both here and abroad.
  • Another Rough Collie site - this time the Steelhurst kennel south of the border.
  • This time a visit to a scottish breeder site for Border collies. If you are interested in this breed either for showing or obedience, it is well worth contacting this breeder for a chat.
  • Karen Dalglish who now lives in Scotland is one of the top breeders of Border Collies in the UK. The Corinleas have been consistent winners on the championship show circuit for many years and now Karen will even set up your web site for you. Visit the Corinlea Border Collies here.

And finally some helpful links to general canine related sites:

  • For veterinary advice, guidance or just to share information, this site is one of the most helpful and useful sites for any dog owner. Don't listen to rumour - ask the on-line Vet for yourself!
  • A general canine related site for almost everything. Suits pet owners, animal lovers and breeders alike.
